The faithful adaptation of Stephen King’s novel by the same name, “It,” is a must-watch for everyone. The story revolves around a group of friends living in the small town of Maine. These children not only have to deal with broken families and school bullies but also with a murderous clown rampaging the town and killing the innocents. Trust me; It is Not!! A kid’s movie. It will give you goosebumps, high blood pressure, and a few sleepless nights. The elements of added humor and quirkiness make It (the movie) a well-rounded and thrilling watch.

2. Dabbe: The Possession (2013)

Next on our list is “Dabbe: The Possession.” It is part of a series of Turkish horror films, and among them, “The Possession” is the most liked and voted. However, there is a good reason Dabbe is such a cult classic among real horror fans. The twisted nature of the film will give you Knots in your stomach, and you might have to take sleeping pills after this.

Dabbe follows the story of Faruk (Islamic Preacher) and a Psychiatrist Dr. Ebru who team up to find a cure for a girl claimed to be possessed by Djinn (a ghost) and killed her to-be husband on her wedding day. This story might seem like a generic movie plot of a horror film, but it is much more than that. The ending alone will make you restless.

Give Dabbe a watch if you want to experience an all-out horror film with ghost stories, curses, and black magic elements.

3. Hereditary (2018):

Labeled as “emotionally devastating” and “disturbing” by film critics and fans alike, Hereditary is everything it is claimed to be. Out of all the horror movies I watched last year, Hereditary was able to disturb me the most. This film follows the story of a broken family whose life turns for the worst after the death of Joan, the Graham family Matriarch. This movie is alarming and contains some highly graphic scenes. Moreover, this one is right up your alley if you enjoy movies based on satanic cults and demons.

4. Midsommar (2019):

Midsommer is borderline sinister and unsettling. The film follows a young American couple suffering from a dysfunctional relationship who decides to visit a rural hometown in Northern Europe. Seemingly, a retreat from their real-life problems, the visit becomes a nightmare when locals show their true agenda. Midsommer is a perfect film for people who want a chilling experience without jump scares, ghosts, gore or supernatural entities.

5. Eden Lake (2008):

Eden Lake

A group of unruly teenagers can’t be as scary as zombies, ghosts, satanic cults and clowns, right? Wrong!! Well, if you don’t have a phobia of teenagers yet. Eden lake will make them your worst nightmare. At least they are of a young couple trying to camp on a beautiful lake. This movie will surely keep you on your toes. So, prepare some popcorn and create a blanket burrito of yourself, Coz you are in for a treat!!

6. Train to Busan (2016):

Combine the thrill of “Snowpiercer,” “World War Z,” and “28 Days Later” in one film, and you will end up with “Train to Busan”. This movie should top the list of horror movies to watch on any website because it succeeds in giving the adrenaline rush the viewers are looking for. Train to Busan is just for you if you love zombie movies that kill off prominent characters without flinching. Moreover, the storyline is genuinely heartfelt, and you might be suffering from a minor heartbreak by the end of it.

7. Tag (2015):

This Japanese thriller is the complete opposite of Midsommer. This movie also has a comedic side, juxtaposing the extremely graphic scenes offered in the movie. Directed by Sion Sono, Tag is inspired by the title of the novel “Riaru Onigokko” and follows a story of a schoolgirl Mitsuko. Who wakes up in alternate realities and witnesses people getting killed in bizarre ways? A heads up, watch this movie only if you have no problem with loads of fake blood spraying around for no reason.

8. Insidious (2010):

Claimed to be one of the best horror movies ever made, “Insidious” is a must-watch for everyone. Although most of the movie is based on fiction. But many instances, such as astral projections and out-f-the-body experiences, horrify its viewers. This movie contains all the spices for a perfect horror film, from sound effects to incredible characters.

9. The Mist (2007):

This Stephen King novel’s adaptation is not for a faint heart. The combination of human aspirations and monsters lurking in the mysterious mist is a recipe for disaster, as you can imagine. The story follows a father and son trapped inside a store with other locals while a mysterious mist engulfs the whole town. Anybody that tries to step out is met with an inevitable end. You will be kept on your toes during playtime, and nothing can prepare you for the ending. Seriously!! You can’t sit this one out.

10. The Wailing (2016):

Last on the list of horror movies to watch this Halloween is “The Wailing.” The Wailing doesn’t waste a minute on pointless character-building, equal part zombie fest, and mystery. The unsettling nature of this film will raise more questions than it will answer. There is a good reason; many people consider this movie to be the best horror movie from South Korea. This movie has many underlying themes, often left for the viewers to disintegrate and understand. Get your popcorn ready for this roller-coaster of a movie because it won’t bore you even for a minute.

I hope this list gave you some fantastic movies to watch this Halloween. Comment below, and let me know your favorite movie and why you love it. Cheers!!
