Job Summary:

Adelphi Construction LC is actively seeking a highly reliable, safety-focused CDL Driver / Equipment Operator to support a key project site located in Apple Grove, West Virginia . This is a dual-role position that combines commercial driving responsibilities with equipment operation to help maintain the safe and efficient flow of both personnel and materials on-site.

As the primary site bus driver , this individual will be responsible for transporting crew members and subcontractors from an off-site parking location to the active construction site multiple times per day. This is a critical function that supports punctuality, worker safety, and overall site logistics. Operating a passenger vehicle compliant with West Virginia laws (such as a school bus or equivalent), the driver must ensure a safe, smooth, and reliable ride while maintaining proper logs and inspections in compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations .

In addition to transportation duties, the candidate will serve as an equipment operator , assisting the construction team by operating machinery (such as skid steers, loaders, telehandlers, etc.) and performing general labor tasks as needed. This combination role requires flexibility, a strong understanding of site safety practices, and the ability to shift gears between transporting personnel and contributing to physical site progress.

This position is well-suited for someone who enjoys variety in their day, has a strong safety mindset, and takes pride in being an integral part of a fast-paced construction team delivering critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a CDL-compliant passenger vehicle (e.g., school bus) to transport workers between parking and job site.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections as required by FMCSA and West Virginia DMV.
• Follow a scheduled transport loop to ensure on-time arrival/departure of workers.
• Maintain accurate driving and inspection logs.
• Operate various types of heavy equipment including skid steers, loaders, and telehandlers.
• Perform routine equipment checks and light maintenance.
• Assist with general labor duties as needed during non-driving times.
• Comply with site-specific safety policies and federal/state transportation regulations.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Class B or higher CDL license issued in West Virginia . *A Must have
• Passenger endorsement (P) required for operation of a school bus or similar passenger vehicle.
• Clean driving record with a strong focus on safety.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience operating equipment in a construction or industrial environment.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug test (hair follicle).

Preferred Qualifications:

• OSHA 10/30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Prior experience working on large construction job sites.
• Familiarity with FMCSA compliance standards and DOT recordkeeping.
• Experience transporting labor crews or working in camp-based environments.

Physical & Working Requirements:

• Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, climb in/out of vehicles and equipment.
• Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must wear appropriate PPE (provided by the company).
