Job Title: Clinical Nurse Manager

Overview

- open to a nurse who was a lead or has a strong RN background looking to be a manager

- only work M-F 9-5

- Must have strong emotional maturity

- Overseeing 30 nurses

PRINCIPAL MISSION:

Plans, directs and provides general supervision of assigned clinical areas, which include Health and Wellness Center Services: Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Plastic Surgery, and Women’s Health Breast Center, Ambulatory Care departments. Responsibilities include budgetary oversight, compliance with all quality initiatives and regulatory mandates. Plans, implements and evaluates new programs to enhance patient care and growth of assigned departments.

SCOPE OF PRACTICE:

The practice of the profession of nursing as a Licensed Practical nurse is defined as diagnosing and treating human responses to actual or potential health teaching, health counseling, and provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being, and executing medical regimens prescribed by a licensed or otherwise legally authorized physician or dentist (New York Practice Act).

RESPONSIBILITIES RATING (1-3)

Promote a safe, cooperative and professional health care environment to ensure optimum patient care (as per HR Policy 113c).

  1. Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations, including but not limited to, absenteeism, ETIME, cellular telephone usage, dress code and rules of conduct.
  2. Makes Customer Service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors, and co-workers) in a professional manner exercising courtesy and tact. Effectively communicates with patients and others about SBH services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility and ensures that concerns, questions or issues reach the right person(s) in SBH in a timely fashion.
  3. Demonstrates the standards of performance and behaviors consistent with the DRIVE to Patient-Centered Excellence.
  4. Oversees and mentors clinical staff.
  5. Assists in the review, update and implementation of policies, workflows and QI processes.
  6. Uses recommendations from QA/QI findings to improve quality of care. (LDM and other QI initiatives)
  7. Oversees clinical staff in assigned area, and assists department in implementation of day-to-day activities and processes.
  8. Assures daily huddles are done
  9. Responsible for training staff
  10. Responsible for ensuring clinical staff documents accurately and maintaining patient records.
  11. Ensure all Nursing staff are administering vaccines/injectable according to hospital policy.
  12. Ensure that clinical staff is educating patients and documenting in medical record.
  13. Assesses new staffs’ clinical competencies (i.e., vitals, phlebotomy) prior to completion of probationary performance appraisal
  14. Assists with completing annual competencies and performance appraisals.
  15. Verifies that all quality improvement protocols are in compliance.
  16. Assists with improving and implementing workflows and processes.
  17. Resolves patient and family issues/complaints and deescalates as needed.
  18. Assist in the disciplinary process, report and document violation to SBH policies.
  19. Participates in developing plan of care in collaboration with the physician and other health care team members.
  20. Directing and coordinating nursing care consistent with patient’s age and developmental level
  21. Implements and monitors hospital policies and procedures regarding medication storage, administration, ordering and documentation.
  22. Observes and implements safely precautions when appropriate
  23. Reports and acts on environmental safety hazards (i.e. spills on floors, malfunctioning or damaged equipment, etc.)
  24. Complete and follow up on all initiated work orders
  25. Works effectively with other hospital personnel and leadership team.
  26. Identifies unit problems that require change and assists with implementation of solutions.

  2. Fosters a collaborative and goal-oriented work environment
  3. Maintains open communication with team members
  4. Actively listens to feedback from team members and adjusts accordingly
  5. Pays attention to details to ensure accuracy of information.
  6. Communicate effectively and professionally with Leadership team and department heads
  7. Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff
  8. Effectively follows directives from AVP and senior leadership team.
  9. Effectively enforces rules and regulations from compliance and regulatory agencies.
  10. Reports/ emails/ are organized, professional and free of errors.
  11. Demonstrates reliability and accountability in all aspects of performance.
  12. Update E-time and manage employee timecards
  13. Assess overtime usage and explain budget variances.
  14. Ensure clinical services start on time and end on time.

EPIC

  1. Monitor Ambulatory Care clinic work queues and ensure staff address issues timely.
  2. Monitor Ambulatory Care clinic in basket messages and ensure staff address messages timely.
  3. Create / monitor / update clinic workflows as needed.
  4. Monitor Clinic rooming activities and ensure Clinical staff is documenting appropriate information for designated clinic service.
  5. Create and run appropriate reports that support clinical decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education Required : Bachelor’s degree or greater, with appropriate clinical course of study
  2. License/Certification/Registration(s) Required : Current New York State RN licensure C. Experience/Skills Required : 5+ years in an Ambulatory Care setting, with 2 years of management or supervisory experience required.
  3. Excellent attention to detail
  4. Strong level of accountability
  5. Knowledge of Regulatory requirements
