Position is in office 5 days a week.

Soft home goods company is seeking a full time Designer with experience in textiles, product development within the home textiles industry located in New York City. The ideal candidate is an expert multi-tasker, with great CAD skills, time-management and communication. This designer would be a team player who will thrive as a self-starter, be receptive of design/customer feedback, follow direction, share creative ideas, and take ownership of specific customer accounts. Strong Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator skills required, with experience in physical product development, textile and surface design required for home products.

Responsibilities:

• Experience and knowledge of bedding industry standards and production requirements
• Ability to work closely with sales team to develop customer presentations with CAD artwork, presentation development & planograms
• A keen eye for color and design saleability into the mid-tier market
• Exceptional attention to detail and technical design skills to create production-ready artwork
• Work closely and communicate effectively with VP of design, sales team, fellow designers, license partners, and product development team members
• Build, maintain, archive and share electronic files systematically on our server
• Display a professional, creative, and enthusiastic outlook
• Prioritize and balance multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to develop presentation ready artwork without close supervision
• Take accountability and ownership of projects from start to finish
• A clear understanding of how buyers want to see presentations in order to close the deal

Requirements:

• Minimum of 6 years of professional design experience within the soft home fashions space
• Must possess an outstanding sense of design and creativity with superb organizational skills and attention to details
• Knowledge and experience directly in the home fashions textile industry
• Clear understanding of preparing print-ready artwork and specs for production
• Ability to correspond with overseas teammates and factories to finalize sample/production requests
• Track record of successfully developing home products for mid-tier customers with price sensitivities
• Experience with fashion bedding, quilts, sheets, wovens and executing tech packs is a must
• Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills
• Must be located in the New York City metro area and willing to work in the office every day
