Reporting to the Environmental Health & Safety Senior Manager, the Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for the Mountain Iron, MN solar panel manufacturing facility. The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is required to know and comply with State, and Federal laws as they apply to Health and Safety in the Workplace. They will be responsible for maintaining policies and procedures related to health, safety, and environmental concerns. They will be required to continuously shift priorities to meet the position's changing demands and are expected to display a high standard of diplomacy, professionalism, leadership and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintains applicable health, safety, and environmental programs.
  • Conduct accident investigations and ensure work-related injuries are reported and investigated to prevent reoccurrences. Supports the team during onsite investigations and identify possible causes of the accident and find plausible solutions to avoid accidents.
  • Provide recommendations and/or implement changes for improving safety in the workplace.Ensure corrective actions from accident investigations are complete.
  • Oversee and create monthly reporting statistics regarding H&S for the plant.
  • Conduct safety audits/inspections and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and provide recommendations for safety improvements.
  • Works with all site teams to ensure safe systems of work are embedded in standard operating procedures.
  • Create and maintain strong team dynamics to ensure proper support available to all departments across the organization.
  • Develop and facilitate (as required) health, safety, and environmental training as required by state, provincial or federal legislation for both US locations.
  • Work with Heliene training department to ensure training records are maintained as a means of assuring compliance and providing a safe work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, health, and safety certification, with five (5) years’ experience working within safety requirements and two (2) years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.

  • Excellent understanding of OSHA and MN OSHA requirements, including experience with manufacturing, ISO Standards, ANSI Standards, Minnesota Statues, and CFR 1910.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to speak and present to the public as required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees.
  • Strong ability to train, motivate and provide constructive feedback as required.
  • Ability to problem solve and assess and mitigate risk as required.
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Excel and auditor safety software.
  • Experience working at an automated manufacturing facility is an asset.

Salary Range: $80,000 to $105,000 Annually
