Nature of Work

This position serves as the Sanitarian Training & Regional Support Coordinator and also performs regional sanitarian duties , providing support and consultation to local health departments.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering on-the-job training (OJT) to new sanitarians at local health departments.
• Coordinating training classes for newly hired sanitarians, including:
• Preparing agendas
• Scheduling sessions
• Arranging guest speakers
• Distributing training materials
• Tracking trainee progress
• Assisting local health departments across all eight regions in planning Regional In-Service Meetings to fulfill the continuing education hours (CEH) required by the WV State Board of Sanitarians.
• Providing ongoing support for the EH Cloud database system used by local health departments.

This position plays a vital role in strengthening environmental health standards statewide through training, technical assistance, and interagency coordination.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

AND

Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a sanitarian.

OR

Substitution: A Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in public health, environmental science, chemistry, biology, physical science or agriculture may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

Special Requirements: Must be licensed as a registered sanitarian by the West Virginia State Board of Sanitarians or be eligible to be licensed with the Board per the Reciprocity section of the Practice of Public Health Sanitation , W. Va. Code R. §20-4-4 et seq . Must possess a valid driver's license. Availability of an automobile for continuous use may be a requisite for employment.
