About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on the design, analysis, and optimization of HVAC systems for healthcare, life sciences, and laboratory facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, HVAC systems, and industry-specific regulations, with extensive experience working in regulated environments such as healthcare, pharmaceutical, or laboratory construction.

As a Senior Engineer, you will lead projects from concept to completion, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure that HVAC systems are designed to meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Engineering : Lead the design of mechanical systems for HVAC applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and building codes (ASHRAE, ASHE, NFPA, etc.) in healthcare, life sciences, and laboratory facilities.
  • Project Leadership : Oversee HVAC system designs for complex projects, providing technical guidance, mentorship to junior engineers, and ensuring on-time and within-budget project delivery.
  • System Analysis : Perform detailed analysis, calculations, and simulations for HVAC systems (including airflow, thermal load, ventilation, and energy efficiency) to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Compliance & Regulations : Ensure designs comply with relevant healthcare and life sciences regulations, including stringent standards such as cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), USP, FDA, and others.
  • Client Collaboration : Work closely with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver solutions tailored to the specific needs of healthcare, life sciences, and laboratory spaces.
  • Troubleshooting & Optimization : Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for existing HVAC systems, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to enhance system performance, reliability, and energy efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance : Lead efforts in ensuring high-quality standards for all HVAC designs, documentation, and installations, with an emphasis on system safety, redundancy, and uptime.
  • Sustainability & Innovation : Contribute to sustainability initiatives by recommending energy-efficient and environmentally responsible HVAC solutions, including the use of green technologies and renewable energy sources.
  • Documentation & Reporting : Prepare detailed technical documentation, reports, and presentations for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies, including HVAC system performance reports and compliance assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
  • Experience : Minimum 8-10 years of experience in HVAC design, with at least 5 years focused on healthcare, life sciences, or laboratory facility design.
  • Certifications : Professional Engineering (PE) License preferred; LEED, ASHRAE, or other industry certifications a plus.
  • Technical Expertise :
  • Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, HAP, TRACE 700, or similar tools).
  • In-depth knowledge of building systems, mechanical codes, and regulatory requirements specific to healthcare and life sciences.
  • Experience with critical systems (e.g., clean rooms, laboratories, operating rooms, BSL-3/BSL-4 labs).
  • Project Management : Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving : Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with a creative and practical approach to solving complex engineering challenges.
  • Team Leadership : Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, manage multiple projects, and foster a collaborative work environment.

Preferred Skills :

  • Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and integration of HVAC systems with smart building technologies.
  • Experience in sustainable design practices and energy-efficient solutions.
  • Familiarity with specific HVAC design requirements for specialized environments like cleanrooms, laboratories, and healthcare facilities.

Why Join Us?

  • Innovative Projects : Work on cutting-edge healthcare and laboratory facilities that impact people’s lives and the advancement of science.
  • Career Growth : Access to professional development opportunities and a chance to grow into a leadership position within the organization.
  • Collaborative Environment : Work alongside talented professionals in a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Competitive Salary & Benefits : We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and performance-based incentives.
