VISION FOR THE VP OF SECURITY STRATEGY
Based on strong market demand for a fresh approach to security, Block By Block is working to establish a security division to deliver a higher level of professionalism and drive positive perceptions of public spaces. The vision for this service is a distinctly uniformed Security and Hospitality Team (S&H Team) working in public spaces such as commercial corridors, parks, transit systems, campuses and city centers to provide a visible symbol of safety. The S&H staff will work in conjunction with business owners, private security, local police and other partners while effectively engaging and problem-solving socially challenging behaviors. At the same time, S&H team members will place strong emphasis on positive engagements e.g. proactive greeting/environmental awareness, which is vital to establishing a presence that promotes both that perception and reality of safety. The development of this enhanced product offering is very timely and fits within Block By Block’s larger strategy of moving beyond downtowns and evolving our company into a full-service public space provider.
Identifying a forward-thinking, ambitious leader is a central element of creating this new service offering. We are currently in the process of identifying an individual to serve as the Vice President of Security Strategy.
· Initially, the role will provide leadership and input as our team makes broad and narrow decisions about everything from how the new entity functions to its overall image.
· As the new entity is established, the role will evolve to be more focused on a balance of:
o Working with our leadership and business development teams to outline the benefits of this new model with current and prospective customers.
o Operational oversight of specific security programs including visiting locations with our new security programming to compare effectiveness to expectations.
This is an exciting time for the selected candidate to join the Block By Block for a variety of reasons. First is to be part of our sustained commitment to downtowns nationwide. We’ve built our reputation in this niche market and will continue evolving our understanding and offerings as our city centers evolve. Secondly, the candidate will play an essential role in helping us realize our growth potential as we move into new public space environments that are natural extensions beyond our traditional downtown work.
